Unified Restaurant Ordering System

The Challenge

Restaurants were bleeding margins to delivery apps—30% commissions meant they were barely breaking even on orders while losing control of customer relationships.

Each restaurant had unique menus, delivery zones, and pricing—but orders needed to be managed centrally to reduce staffing costs.

The platform needed to deliver orders from multiple frontends (each branded for a different restaurant) into one unified system that would route them to the right kitchen instantly.

Restaurant staff weren't technical—the system had to be simple enough that anyone could use it while being robust enough for real-time order management.

My Role

Lead developer and architect—responsible for the full platform design, multi-tenant architecture, frontend customization per restaurant, and integration with payment gateways and order alert systems.

What I Did

  • Built a multi-tenant architecture where each restaurant got a customized frontend while sharing a unified backend order management system.
  • Designed the order routing logic that received orders from multiple sources and pushed them to the right restaurant in real-time.
  • Integrated online payments so restaurants could process transactions without relying on third-party delivery apps.
  • Built a review system that kept customer feedback within each restaurant's ecosystem—not trapped on delivery platforms.
  • Created an instant alert system (sound/visual) that notified staff the moment an order came in—reducing response times and missed orders.
  • Built area delivery coverage support so each restaurant could define exactly where they'd deliver, preventing out-of-zone orders.
  • Engineered the system so a single call center could handle orders for all restaurants simultaneously—reducing overhead costs.

The Result

  • Enabled multiple restaurants to operate their own ordering systems without delivery app middlemen.
  • Reduced staffing costs by consolidating order handling into one central team.
  • Delivered real-time order alerts that cut missed orders and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Gave restaurants full control over their menus, pricing, delivery zones, and customer relationships.
  • Built a system that could expand to new restaurants with minimal configuration.

Delivery apps promised convenience but delivered dependency. This project was about giving restaurants their independence back—building a system that did everything the apps did without the 30% tax. The multi-tenant architecture meant each restaurant had its own branded experience, but behind the scenes, a single system handled all the complexity.
