Built India's first vacation rental platform in 30 days—solo—years before Airbnb even existed in the market.
The Challenge
India had no Airbnb-style platform at the time. Vacation home owners were stuck with word-of-mouth or classified ads, and travelers had no trusted way to find and book holiday homes.
I had no team—just myself, 30 days, and the vision to build something that didn't exist yet.
The platform had to handle payments (via CCAvenue), partial bookings, a review system, and complex search—all without the luxury of modern frameworks or AI tools.
My Role
Solo developer and technical founder—responsible for everything from architecture to implementation, deployment, and maintenance. Complete ownership of the product lifecycle.
What I Did
- Built the entire platform from scratch in 30 days—full-stack development with zero existing codebase.
- Integrated CCAvenue payment gateway so property owners could accept bookings and payments securely.
- Built a partial booking system so travelers could book stays of any length, not just full weeks or months.
- Created a rate-and-review system to build trust between property owners and travelers.
- Developed a comprehensive search engine so users could find properties by location, availability, price, and amenities.
- Designed the entire user experience—from property listing to booking confirmation—completely solo.
The Result
- Delivered a complete, production-ready platform in just 30 days—working with no team.
- Launched a system that predated Airbnb's presence in India.
- Built core features that are still standard in vacation rental platforms today: payments, reviews, search, and flexible bookings.
- Proved that a solo developer with a tight timeline can build something that competes with global platforms.
Before Airbnb was a household name in India, there was IndiaWide—a platform built by one person in 30 days that did everything the global giants would later do. This wasn't about having a team or resources; it was about knowing what needed to be built and executing relentlessly.
