Rescued an Australian investment platform after the original Indian team vanished—then rewrote it twice across different tech stacks over 4 years.
The Challenge
The original Indian development team vanished without warning—no handover, no documentation, just a partially functional codebase that was quickly crumbling.
Investors and founders were using the platform daily, so any downtime or data loss would damage the business's reputation irreparably.
The codebase was a patchwork of different coding styles, incomplete features, and logic that no one fully understood.
After initial rescue and stabilization, the client needed a complete rewrite with a different team using Angular/.NET on Azure—requiring me to come back and see it through.
My Role
Started as a rescue developer salvaging the original platform, evolved into technical lead through two major rewrites and upgrades over 4 years. Responsible for platform stability, architectural decisions, team coordination, and ensuring business continuity through major transitions.
What I Did
- First phase: Rescued the original PHP/Angular platform after the Indian team ghosted—stabilized the codebase, fixed critical bugs, and kept the platform alive for founders and investors.
- Navigated the transition to a new team and tech stack—Angular frontend with .NET backend on Azure.
- Led the technical oversight of the complete rewrite, ensuring the new platform matched the original business logic while upgrading the architecture.
- Managed the data migration from the legacy system to the new Azure-based infrastructure.
- Currently leading a major upgrade to the platform, adding new features and improving the user experience for Australian founders and investors.
- Maintained consistent communication with stakeholders throughout the 4-year journey—through the original rescue, the rewrite, and the current upgrade.

This project taught me that building software is one thing—keeping it alive when the team disappears is another. The original Indian team left without a trace, and the platform was hemorrhaging trust. I stabilized it, kept it running, and then got a call years later for the rewrite. Four years later, I'm still here—not because the code is hard, but because the relationship built on trust is worth protecting. Sometimes the best projects are the ones where you're not just writing code—you're being the continuity when everyone else has left.
