Property Compliance SaaS
Built a property compliance SaaS for the UK market that made documentation tracking effortless—with smart alerts and pluggable compliance requirements.
The Challenge
UK property dealers had to track documentation for every property—but compliance requirements changed regularly, and missing a deadline meant penalties.
Every property had a different set of requirements, and dealers were managing this with spreadsheets and sticky notes.
The platform needed to be flexible enough to handle changing regulations without requiring code changes every time the government updated a rule.
My Role
Fractional CTO and dev team lead—responsible for technical architecture, team leadership, and ensuring the platform could adapt to the UK's ever-changing property compliance landscape.
What I Did
- Architected a highly extensible compliance tracking system where adding or removing requirements was configurable—not coded.
- Built smart alert systems that proactively notified property dealers about upcoming documentation and compliance deadlines.
- Led the development team building the SaaS platform using Laravel and Vue.js, ensuring code quality and architectural consistency.
- Designed the system to handle the complexity of different property types, different requirements per property, and the constant evolution of UK property regulations.
- Created a user experience that made compliance tracking simple—even for non-technical property dealers.
- Built the platform to be scalable for thousands of properties and users without degrading performance.
The Result
- Delivered a fully functional SaaS platform that tracked compliance documentation for thousands of properties.
- Enabled property dealers to stop using spreadsheets and move to a professional, automated system.
- Reduced missed compliance deadlines through smart, proactive alerting.
- Made the system flexible enough to adapt to regulatory changes without developer intervention.
- Built a platform that could scale with the business as it grew.
Compliance isn't sexy, but missing a deadline in UK property can cost you everything. This platform took a painful, manual process and turned it into something effortless. The killer feature wasn't the tracking—it was the configurability.
The Technology
My Takeaway
“The best systems aren't the ones that handle today's requirements perfectly—they're the ones that handle tomorrow's requirements without a rewrite. When you're building for a regulatory environment that changes constantly, configurability isn't a luxury—it's survival.”
